There is a situation with 1013-2016 Smart Fortwo Electric Drive vehicles whereby if a fully charged car is parked for 3 or more weeks, the software ruins the drive battery.  100's of owners have run into this problem making their vehicles worthless. Replacement battery cost is $11,000.00 +

There is a situation with 1013-2016 Smart Fortwo Electric Drive vehicles whereby if a fully charged car is parked for 3 or more weeks, The installed software in the vehicle keeps "checking the battery" and by dioing so runs down the charge on the drive batter to 0.  This in effect "Kills" or "Bricks" the battery.  making it unsalvageable and worthless.  The battery is only warranteed for 10,000 mile or 4 years , which ever comes first.   Medcedes want $11,000.00 plus labor to replace the battery if it is past the warranty limits.  This in effect makes the cars worthless as battery replacement cot is prohibitive.  There are 100s of Smart Fortwo owners in this situation, who are having to scrap their low milage cars due to ruined drive batteries from the faulty softwarte.

My vehicle in Like-New condition and has only $8500 miles on it.  Due to the above, it is now worthless.  I beleive that the Federal standard for battery waranty on electric drive vehicle batteries is 40,000 mile not 10,000. miles . Mercedes has not only violated this standard but they have installed software that in fact,itself ,ruins the battery on these cars.  That they will not take responsibipity for this fault is moraly reprehenesible as they are causing great financial loss to comsumers who have purchased these vehicles from them in good faith, expecting a normal usage time as compared to other vehicles.
